Back in Canada! How does it feel? Fabulous! I'll miss my quirky roommate, the indian cuisine, and the energetic vibe that resonates throughout London. But overall I'm just happy to be back with the people I love.

Unfortunately my return to Canada is a little bitter-sweet, as my dream job at Victoire Boutique has been given away in my absence. They really needed someone and couldn't afford to wait. They still offered me a position when their next opening arose - but this may not be until October/November. At which time I'm very busy with school. In any case, we'll see - you have to live life day by day!

On the bright side more time for blogging! I'm headed up to my cottage tonight (after picking up my new car as my boyfriend crashed my old one while I was away). I will bring up some outfits with me and have some new personal style posts up (finally!) for you guys in the next few days. I'm excited to re-embrace the blogging community with open arms!

I hope you guys like my current inspiration photos. I love the new Marc Jacobs campaign - kind of represents how I feel at the moment in a bizarre way. I'm also inspired by the other photos of some of my favourite models, and just some fabulous street style in the instance of Daisy Lowe (white dress), and the girl outfitted in vintage from Berlin. Met Gala Craziness

Picking a top ten was very hard for me for this event. But I managed to do it and here are my top ten favourite looks sported at the Met Gala this year.

1. Emma Watson in Burberry.
She looks so confident, comfortable and sexy whenever she dons this brand. Considering she is pretty much the designer's muse of the moment, this comes as no big surprise that Emma can rock Burberry like no other.

2. Chloe Sevigny in Proenza Schouler.
Perfection. I need this dress in my life.

3. Lily Donaldson in Marc Jacobs.
Love the tone on tone on tone, even her hair and skin share a similar hue with the dress. I love this look on her.

4. Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Muhad.
She looks like a fairy queen in this dress. It works so well because of her mocha skin. I would have loved to wear a dress like this to my high school prom.

5. Anja Rubik in Altuzarro.
Anja reminds me of one of the Bond girls in this look. I love the tousled bedhead look she's rocking. The slit up the Altuzarro dress is mighty fierce.

6. Coco Rocha in Zac Posen.
With this dress I'm kind of toeing the line on a love-hate thing. What do you guys think? I love the colours of it, and Coco never looks bad in anything... but is she in danger of looking like mermaid Barbie? Or is just glamourous? I'm leaning towards glamourous but haven't fully made up my mind on this one.

7. Mila Kunis and Vera Wang in Vera Wang.
I love Mila Kunis, she is so adorable and a great little actress. But anyways that has nothing to do with the fact that I think this dress is fantastic. Especially compared with Vera's demure gown, they compliment each other very nicely in this photo.

8. Camilla Belle in Jason Wu
I love Camilla, she always looks so classy and composed and tonight is evidently no exception.... she looks stunning in fire engine red. The simplicity of this well-tailored gown is inspiring.

9. Liu Wen in Naeem Khan and Brian Atwood shoes.
I love this look! Liu looks amazing. The shoes make me very jealous. Constance Jablonski is also in the photo wearing Jason Wu though I'm not as crazy about her overall look.

10. Charlotte Gainsburg in Balenciaga.
The only reason why Charlotte's ringed in at number 10 is because I don't know if I like this look all together. First off she needs to brush her hair... Secondly, whilst I love the frock and ADORE the shoes I'm not sure if they work so well together. But since I love each piece so much individually I felt that Charlotte's outfit was at least worthy of a mention.

Grey Matter

Inspiration: Marc Jacobs 2010.

Even before this show I was loving the matte grey polish offered at Sephora.... what a fabulous shade. Essie also has a nice version, a bit darker than the Sephora one. On an unrelated note I'm also loving lilac and turquoise for this spring/summer.

I've been so busy with term work/exams.... I can't wait 'til school is finally finished and I have the opportunity to satisfy my shopping craving. At least nail polish is a fast fix in the meantime.

What are your favourite colours for this upcoming summer season?

With temperatures soaring up to the 20s this week where I live, I finally feel as if summer is in sight and I can't wait to ditch my tried-and-true winter outfits for a few months and embrace my new summer gear.

Victoria's Secret at Louis Vuitton??

I definitely have a few issues with the Louis Vuitton show.... While I'm not usually to rag on the fantastic Mr. Marc Jacobs, I was unimpressed by his casting choices for the show. Also, for the majority of the show he employed the same silhouette, which I found grew a bit tiresome. The accessories were fantastic (as usual), the details sublime, but the shape of the inflated petticoats will not be a style employed by many women, as it's not the most flattering shape. It's hard to make size 0 models look large, but these petticoats do definitely make them seem larger, if not large point-blank. The last few looks were very nice, the pouffy feminine dresses with gorgeous classic clutches were a nice finishing touch to the show - and to Paris Fashion week. Not to mention seeing two Canadian supermodels back to back: Coco, and Jess Stam. However, with the rest of the casting choices.... bringing in Victoria's Secret and lingerie models? I'm not so impressed. To be sure, Adriana Lima, Laetitia Casta, Bar Rafeali, Catherine McNeil, Karolina Kurkova and Elle Macpherson (blast from the past!) are all stunning creatures. But they have their own commercial market and don't need to be taking work away from the fashion models. It's similar to another pet peeve of mine... celebrities on fashion mags. You stick to movies, singing, whatever it is that you do, and leave the fashion covers to the fashion models!!!! I get that Jacob was trying to create a certain mood with the voluptuous bustline of these lingerie models, but I still think it's unfair to fill up those coveted Vuitton spots with models that just have not worked as hard to be there. Those other girls have worked their teeny bums off year-round to attain those types of shows, and they are the ones that should be rewarded for their perseverance.

Wow, that turned in to a Mercer rant. What do you think? Did you love to see the lingerie girls at Vuitton? Or like me do you believe that they have their own place, off of the couture runways?

F/W 2010 - Minimalism

There are many individual looks I find myself attracted to this season. One trend I noticed, and adored, is the simplification of fashion, a return to the basics. Many shows included basic, minimal pieces, adorned with many small details, or tailored to the extent that they easily shed the 'boring label' that can be attached to minimal designs of the past. I haven't jumped on the minimal band wagon before, in terms of watching shows. Shows, for me, are about drama, flair, theatrics... a touch of exageration. However, when basics are done this well, I find it impossible to not be an avid new minimalist fan. These looks to the left fully represent why I can now see myself donning these duds... The three designers, from top left to bottom left, are Marc Jacobs, No. 21, and Preen. The No. 21 dress, being modeled by Kasia Struss, is by far my favourite of the pack. One other big advantage of minimalism... more room to explore with fun, and courageous accessories!
