Attack of the Yeti... er, Chanel f/w 2010

Chanel cements fur as one of the go-to trends, once again, for fall/winter 2010. Seen at an astonishing numbers of shows this season I think most of us already had an inkling of this. Chanel had some really nicely structured pieces. But I think there's a good chance I will be avoiding the full-yeti suit sported at the beginning of the show.

Fun fact: Unlike at the Fendi show, Karl used faux fur for this collection. Good call.

Ode to Gaultier!

Jean Paul Gaultier put on a fabulous show in Paris yesterday morning. As a Canadian girl I couldn't help to apreciate the awesome diversity that he had on the runway. Many french designers get fixated on the classic European Caucasian model, and it was nice to see so much variety on the runway. Watching this show was like taking a brief trip around the world. The clothes themselves were interesting and diverse, and there were some great individual pieces here that would freshen up any winter wardrobe. Bravo Monsieur Gaultier, Bravo!

F/W 2010 - Minimalism

There are many individual looks I find myself attracted to this season. One trend I noticed, and adored, is the simplification of fashion, a return to the basics. Many shows included basic, minimal pieces, adorned with many small details, or tailored to the extent that they easily shed the 'boring label' that can be attached to minimal designs of the past. I haven't jumped on the minimal band wagon before, in terms of watching shows. Shows, for me, are about drama, flair, theatrics... a touch of exageration. However, when basics are done this well, I find it impossible to not be an avid new minimalist fan. These looks to the left fully represent why I can now see myself donning these duds... The three designers, from top left to bottom left, are Marc Jacobs, No. 21, and Preen. The No. 21 dress, being modeled by Kasia Struss, is by far my favourite of the pack. One other big advantage of minimalism... more room to explore with fun, and courageous accessories!

Fall/Winter 2010 - Some of my Standouts

I absolutely adore the hairstyles presented by Emporio Armani in Milan today. I don't know if I'll be brave enough to go out and hack off my own locks into this style, but kudos to Georgio, and his hairstylists, for working this look nicely. Although I was not head over stilettos for all of the looks presented at Armani, I did enjoy the dreamy floral cocktail dresses pictured to the right. Model Sessilee Lopez (the first model to the right), especially rocks the short hair look.
